RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING COURSE

(Ages 15+)

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to teach candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Each participant must be able to swim 300 yards, 200 yards of front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke and an additional 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke continuously without stopping. Participants must also be able to retrieve a 10 pound weight from the bottom of the pool and return to the starting point 20 yards away in under 1 minute and 40 seconds. Successful completion requires participation in skill practice. The practice sessions will require some strenuous physical activity. You are encouraged to check with your healthcare professional before participating in class. Upon successful completion of the lifeguarding course, each participant will receive an American Red Cross Universal Certificate indicating Lifeguarding/First Aid, which is valid for 3 years and an American Red Cross Universal Certificate indicating CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, which is vaild for 1 year. Please come to class prepared with a notebook, pen/pencil, swim suit and towel. Please indicate the session you'll attend.
