WATERCOLORS #WCOLORS

(For Beginners and Intermediates)

Joyce Dwyer

This course will be an exploration of basic watercolor techniques for the novice, or an opportunity for those who love to paint to work with other artists. We will start with drawing the first night, working with white shapes for those who may not have prior or recent drawing experience. Then we will quickly move into color, color mixing, values and composition using landscape as our subject focus for this class. Washes, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brush and other methods of creating textures in our painting will be introduced. Continuing students (those who have had at least one prior watercolor class) are welcome and will receive guidance on their painting working in an independent study framework. Bring white drawing paper or printer paper, a #2 pencil and a white plastic eraser to the first class. Bring watercolor supplies to the second class. Students will be mailed a list of supplies needed (approximate cost $50). Joyce is a watercolor painter with 25 years of experience painting. She strives for realistic interpretation in her work. She has widely exhibited and teaches in other community education programs.
