CHINATOWN EXCURSION #CHINAT

AND DIM SUM BRUNCH

Rose Lee & Associates

Join Master chef and cookbook author Rose Lee while she guides you to the delights of Chinese culture and foods. Learn your way around this unique section of downtown Boston as we explore the nooks and crannies of both old and new Chinatown and visit Asian markets, Chinese bakeries, favorite restaurants, herbal shops, art and gift shops, jade jewelers, Chinese silk fabric and costume shops. Also learn about Chinatown's exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables and where to find inexpensive Asian cookware. Enjoy samples of Chinese breakfast, Chinese pastries and Chinatown's best Chinese B.B.Q. Rose Lee will share her extensive knowledge about quality brands of imported Asian ingredients that are best for Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese cooking and how to store them. At the end of the tour we will have a sumptuous dim sum lunch at the area's best dim sum tea house and teach you how dim sum is ordered and explain the many exotic delicacies on the dim sum carts. (Lunch costs an additional $5-$7 per person, payable at the restaurant.) This is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes and bring shopping bags and a cooler to stock up on ingredients and seasonings. Please note: Chinatown is near South Station T (accessible from Alewife Red Line) and parking is available in the area. Maps will be sent after registration with exact meeting place. Limit 12. Rose Lee, a native of Taiwan, has been cooking, catering and teaching the art of Chinese and Asian cooking since the early 70's. She is the author of The Healthful Gourmet Chinese Cookbook and former owner and chef of a Chinese restaurant. Rose also hosts an award winning cooking series for WCAT-TV.
