CHILDREN'S SWIM LESSONS

American Red Cross Children's Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons will be held for children in grades 1-12 with beginner through advanced swimming abilities. Children are required to wear a bathing cap, which can be purchased at the pool for $3 (or at a retailer of your choice). We require that children are at least 42" tall at mouth level so that they will be able to stand on the bottom of the pool during instruction time.

The American Red Cross has again made changes to its Learn to Swim program. Each class now has many new and different skill requirements and it will take students longer to learn and master all the skills in any given class. To make this transition as smooth as possible we suggest reading the lists of skills under each class carefully. If you are unsure of which class is right for your child, pick the lower class. It's easier on the child to be moved up than to be moved down. The pool staff will make any adjustments needed to make sure your child is in the right class on the first day. If your child has had little or no experience in the water choose our Getting Ready to Swim Class.

Classes will be held for 8 weeks at the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School pool. In the case that we need to cancel a class for any reason that class will be made up. We can not accommodate make-up classes if you miss a class. Please indicate the class day, the class time and the swimming level when registering. Class session information is on page 18.

REGISTRATION

Walk in registrations will be accepted from Acton-Boxborough residents ONLY beginning on Wednesday, September 9th at 8:00 a.m. at the Community Education Office located at the Administration Building, 15 Charter Road. All other registrations, including mail-in, phone and non-resident, will be accepted on a space available basis beginning September 10th. You may sign your child up for one session only. After September 17th, you may contact the Community Education Office to register your child for additional lessons.

PLEASE NOTE: To promote a maximal learning environment, we are requesting that parents drop their children at the pool for lesson time and pick them up at its conclusion. Parents will be allowed to remain at the pool on the first and last day of classes only. If you have a special consideration concerning this policy, please call Erin at (978) 266-2525. Thanks for your cooperation. Please walk your child into the pool area for each class.
