Counselor In Training (Entering Grades 9+)
Summer Day Program StaffThe Counselor-in-Training (CIT) course will provide individuals entering grades 9 and up the opportunity to learn how to be a summer counselor. CITs will learn characteristics of children, how to manage children in groups, how to teach games, songs, arts & crafts, and nature. Participants will practice teaching activities to groups of campers. CITs also will be able to participate in the Summer Day Program activities, including the daily open swim. There is a leadership training component to this activity and CITs will actively study and seek to define what makes a good leader. Please indicate the session you'll attend on your form. Prerequisite: CIT participants need to be genuinely interested and enthusiastic about working with elementary aged children under the supervision of the Summer Day Program staff. Previous experience with children preferred. Limit 10 per session.
