Demystifying the College Admissions Process
Sue Wachter, Acton College ConsultingThis course will give you an overview of the complex college admissions process. We will review when to start the process and how to develop an application that reflects the strengths of your student. We will discuss how to choose an appropriate list of schools, the value of college visits and interviews, the Common Application, teacher recommendations, and college admission testing options (SAT, SAT II, ACT, & AP). We will define and go over the pros and cons of Early Decision, Early Action, and Priority Application deadlines. With this information you will be able to create a timetable that makes sense for your student and family, along with key organizational strategies to keep your process structured. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents. Sue Wachter, President of Acton College Consulting, works with students and their families supporting and guiding them through the college admissions process.
