Acton-Boxborough Community Education Program attempts to involve
community members in education and community service activities
leading to individual and community development.
Community Education Office, Administration BuildingRegistration begins May 19th.. To
avoid disappointment, register
early as some of our classes fill up quickly. Descriptions of our
classes and workshops are on-line at this
Web site and in our published Community Education catalog, The
Interaction. The Interaction is mailed four times a year to over
20,000 area homes. If you need a copy, stop by the Pool & Fieldhouse ProgramsLocated at ABRHS, the Pool & Fieldhouse Program consists of weekend family open swim time and open gym times for basketball on weekends. Also offered in this facility is a full Red Cross Swim Program on Saturdays during the school year and Monday-Friday for 8 weeks in the Summer, as well as school year and Summer SwimTeams. Health & Fitness ClassesCommunity Education conducts classes and schedules drop in times for the public in the High School fitness center currently located in the Administration Building. Scheduling of school fields: Little League, Pop Warner and Youth Soccer as well as individuals, businesses and community organizations receive permits for field use through Community Education. Fees charged are returned to the schools for field maintenance. Scheduling Use of School BuildingsAll evening, weekend, holiday & vacation use
of the seven school buildings is scheduled through Community
Education at (978) 266-2525. Use
this form to reserve a school! Those schools include: Teaching for Community EducationCommunity Education receives no funding from the School District or Town, and runs all programs on a self-sustaining basis. Community Education returns money to the following for use of space and equipment: AV, Business Education, Technology Resource Center, Physical Education Depts., Art Dept, Facilities and the Central Office. In F.Y. '02, Community Education also funded the new tennis courts at the Junior High School as well as the renovation of the lower level of the former Merriam School.
