Phone and mail-in registration will take place on March 26th on a space available basis.

Please note: New RMV Law states that parents MUST attend a mandatory meeting to discuss requirements of both student and parents. You will have a choice of two meeting times: Tuesday, March 30th or Wednesday, March 31st from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in HS#184W.

The State of Massachusetts requires that students attend all class sessions. In the event of a missed class, the class missed must be made up (so, if you miss Class #5, you must make up Class #5). If a student misses more than two classes, Community Education will charge a $100 fee.

After registering for Driver Education, parents/students will have 24 hours to withdraw from the class and receive a 100% refund. A 90% refund will be given if withdrawal is done two full business days prior to the start of class. Please call with any questions.

Note to Parents:

At A-B Comunity Education, our goal is to create safe, confident drivers equipped with skills to last a lifetime.

We are committed to our mission of producing safe drivers, but we can't do it alone. Parent involvement and support is not only vital to the creation of good drivers, it is required by law. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires 40 hours of parent supervised driving as part of the licensing process. A parent/guardian is required to attest to the parent supervised hours when a student applies for a license test.

Like any skill, practice is required between lessons. We recommend each student drive with a parent for a minimum of 2 hours each week. This will enable the driver and parent to complete the 40 hour parent requirement within the 6 month state required time.

In our program we hope that students will have some road experience with a parent/guardian before they attend their first driving lesson in the car with one of our instructors. Ideally, students will have driven for 2 hours on the road or for 6 hours in a parking lot.

Please note: Because practice is necessary to produce a skilled, confident driver, we do not schedule drivings closer than every third day. This way new drivers have time to practice between sessions with our instructors and reinforce the skills they are learning during each instructor-led session. Also, we strongly recommend that the final instructed drive be as close to the end of the 6 month waiting period as possible so the teacher's instructions are still fresh in the student's mind when they take their driving test with the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
