ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
Acton-Boxborough Community Education offers a complete ESL program in cooperation with The DIAL (Directions in Adult Learning) Program. DIAL specializes in all levels of English as a Second Language classes for the adult learner.
LEVEL 1 is for adults with limited skills in English. Stressed her are speaking skills needed in daily speaking situations. Acquiring confidence and a comfort level using basic vocabulary and simple verb tenses are of prime importance.
LEVEL 2 helps improve English skills by practicing grammar, complex verb tenses, sentence structure, pronunciation, and new vocabulary. As in all levels, speaking is a priority.
LEVEL 3 integrates all aspects of English in order to achieve a more sophisticated level of speaking using more complex verb structures, idioms, and vocabulary. Those in a business setting will benefit from practicing to speak spontaneously on a variety of topics. This provides the opportunity to isolate pronunciation and work on accent reduction.
Classes will begin on TUESDAY, JANUARY 10TH and will meet for 8 weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Classes will meet at the R.J. Grey Junior High School, 16 Charter Road, Acton.
Evaluation for class placement will take place on the first night of class in Room #315. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED IN ORDER TO BE EVALUATED FOR CLASS.
