We Have Four Locations

Administration Building
All-Day and 1/2 Day Kindergarten through Grade 6. Early mornings (7:00-9:15 a.m.) and late afternoons (2:45/12:15 Thursday-6:00 p.m.) including School Hours Extended Day Kindergarten (8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) for 1/2 day Kindergarteners (depending upon whether your 1/2 day kindergartener is placed in morning or afternoon session).
Children from any Acton elementary school may register for Extended Day at the Administration Building. All 1/2 day Kindergarteners will be registered at the Administration Building except those in the Conant School Hours Extended Day Kindergarten (see below).
This program is located in Community Education classrooms and children are divided into six separate classrooms by age.
Conant School
For Conant students in All-Day and 1/2 Day Kindergarten through Grade 6. Early mornings (7:00-8:30 a.m.) and late afternoons (2:45/12:15 Thursday-6:00 p.m.), including School Hours Extended Day Kindergarten for 1/2 day Kindergarteners enrolled at Conant School on a space-available basis. This program is located in the cafeteria and in the Extended Day Kindergarten room.
Gates School
For Gates students in All-Day Kindergarten through Grade 6. Early mornings (7:00-9:15 a.m.) and late afternoons (3:30/1:00 Thursday-6:00 p.m.). This program is located in the cafeteria. There is no Extended Day for 1/2 Day Kindergarten at Gates. Half-day kindergarteners may attend Extended Day 1/2 Day Kindergarten at the Administration Building.
McCarthy-Towne School
For McT students in All-Day Kindergarten through Grade 6. Early mornings (7:00-8:30 a.m.) and late afternoons (2:45/12:15 Thursday-6:00 p.m.). This program is located in the Multi-Purpose Room. There is no Extended Day for 1/2 Day Kindergarten at McCarthy-Towne. Half-day kindergarteners may attend Extended Day 1/2 Day Kindergarten at the Administration Building.
ALL PROGRAMS
* Have use of the playground and the gym space. Children are always supervised by adult staff.
* Follow the Acton Public Schools calendar - when schools are in session, Extended Day is also in session.
Activities
Our programs are structured to provide children with the opportunity to choose among such activities as: arts & crafts, cooking & baking, drawing, board games, music, quiet reading and homework, or outdoor and gym play. Extended Day students also may take advantage of registering for various after school Community Education classes which are held in our buildings.
Staff
Our experienced, professional adult staff consists of On-Site Staff Leaders, Head Teachers and Teacher Assistants. All Staff Leaders and Head Teachers minimally must hold a degree (BS/BA or AA) in education or a related field. In addition to our adult teachers, there are a number of high school students who assist in the programs under the direct supervision of the teachers.
Snack
We provide a nutritious snack each day. Children who attend on Thursdays need to bring a lunch with a drink. Half-day Kindergarteners bring lunch, and eat at Extended Day.
Registration
Registration for the 2011-2012 school year is on-going, on a space-available basis. We accept 1 day/week registration for Early Mornings (7:00/8:30-9:00) and for Half Day Extended Day Kindergarten and program locations with the space to do so. Extended Day 1/2 Day Kindergarten
Our 1/2 day School Hours Extended Day Kindergarten is an enrichment program which provides opportunities for children to delve into the arts, science, music, geography, world cultures, play and social interaction with friends. It is a great place to come before or after 1/2 day Kindergarten! It also is a convenient, economical solution for child care for working parents. Registration is flexible -- enroll in the Extended Day Kindergarten Half Day program for as few as 1 day per week at the Administration Building or a minimum of 2 days at Conant! Those who choose All-Day Kindergarten at one of the elementary schools may attend Extended Day Kindergarten before or after school.
