A-B Extended Day and Preschool

Extended Day: Serving 225 Acton Public School families.
Extended Day offers quality before and after-school care for
children in grades K-6. A program, serving Boxborough
families with children in grades 1 - 6, began in September,
1996. For more information, contact
us.

EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM..... at the Administration
Building
The Acton-Boxborough Community Education Program offers
before and after school care for children in grades K-6. The
program, currently located at the Administration Building.
It opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m., following the
Acton Public School calendar. Extended Day children are
separated into four age levels, with separate staff members
assigned to each. A program for kindergarten children is
conducted during school hours (covering the half of the
school day the child does not spend in kindergarten).The
Extended Day rooms are designed to allow children the
freedom to choose among such activities as: arts &
crafts, cooking, games, music, computers and sports. A quiet
study area is available for students who wish to do
homework. Milk or juice and a nutritious snack are provided.

Preschool Program

The Community Education Pre-School Program, operates
Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon following the Acton
Public School calendar. The program is located in two new
preschool classrooms in the High School. A program for four
year olds is offered on Monday-Wednesday-Friday mornings. A
program for three year olds is offered on Tuesday and
Thursday mornings. Children must be age eligible by
September 1st. The Pre-School facility consists of two
large, self-contained adjoining rooms and a new playground
designed specifically to meet the needs of pre-school
children and participating high school students. A variety
of developmentally-based activities are offered daily. The
staff includes a team of 3 certified teachers who have
extensive experience working with preschoolers as well as
high school interns. Pre-School is not limited to
Acton/Boxborough residents. However, non-residents pay a
slightly higher tuition.

The "Extended Day at Conant" program opened in September,
2008 for Conant Students. The program is located in the
cafeteria and we also have use of the gym and the
playground. We provide a program designed to allow children
freedom to choose among such activities as arts &
crafts, nature & science, games, cooking, and outdoor
play. Our staff are professionals with degrees in Early
Childhood/Elementary Education or a related field. You may
enroll for a minimum of 2 days per week, and you may choose
Early Morning, Late Afternoon, or both. Tuition is based
upon the number of days and sections of Extended Day that
you register for.
Registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be
through Community Education and is on-going, on a space
available basis. Space is limited.

September, 2009 for Gates students. The program will be
located in the cafeteria and we also have use of the gym and
playground. We provide a program designed to allow children

play. Our staff are professionals with degrees in Early
Childhood/Elementary Education or a related field. You may
enroll for a minimum of 2 days per week, and you may choose

The "Extended Day at McCarthy-Towne" program will open in
September, 2009 for McCarthy-Towne students (Merriam
students may register for this site after August 1, 2009).
The program will be located in the Multi-Purpose Room and we
also have use of the gym, library, and playground. We
provide a program designed to allow children freedom to
choose among such activities as arts & crafts, nature
& science, games, cooking, and outdoor play. Our staff
are professionals with degrees in Early Childhood/Elementary
Education or a related field. You may enroll for a minimum
of 2 days per week, and you may choose Early Morning, Late
Afternoon, or both. Tuition is based upon the number of days
and sections of Extended Day that you register for.
