FINANCIAL IMPACT OF LONG-TERM CARE #IMPACT

Rocco Bombardieri

Americans are living longer than ever…much longer. And very elderly people are susceptible to medical problems which render them unable to fully take care of themselves. That is where long-term care comes in. Both retired and pre-retired folks need to understand the issue and what, if anything, can be done about it. In this class we will discuss statistics about aging and their impact on the likelihood that you or your loved ones will need help with the activities of daily living. We will explain who is responsible for paying for long-term care and what kind of choices you may be faced with in dealing with elderly needs. You will learn how taxes and different types of retirement savings may be affected differently by long-term care expenses. We will demystify long-term care insurance and explain who needs it and, most importantly, who doesn't need it.
