CHESS FOR KIDS:INTRODUCTION #KCHESS1
(Grades 1-6)

Join this class for a great opportunity to learn the basics of chess from a National Chess Master! We'll learn how the pieces move, simple checkmates, opening strategies, all of the rules, how tournaments work, great players and much more. The emphasis is on playing opportunities that will help the students improve. The kids are grouped by ability to keep everyone interested and motivated. Chess boards and sets provided. All ability levels are welcome!
Lou Mercuri is a U.S. Life Chess Master who has recently coached three Mass. State Scholastic Chess Champions and teams that have won state and national awards. Mr. Mercuri defeated World Champion Karpov in an exhibition match in 1990 and in 2006 was awarded the International Chess Trainer Title.
