This class will focus on Chinese language learning using the newly invented most efficient method, the iChinese (formerly Zhiying) method. This method uses the fact that children at certain ages have very good memory about pictures and the picturesque nature of Chinese characters. (See details on www.zhiying.org or call Charles Ying at 978 394 3534). This class teaches Mandarin and uses simplified Chinese characters (both are China standards). Students will develop basic skills to recognize Chinese characters and build vocabulary. They will learn to read with the aid of pictures or simple children's books. The class will be taught using both Chinese and English. Student will learn the most common 128 Chinese characters during the 4-week period. (You can recognize 90% of Characters in Chinese newspaper if you know the most common 950 Chinese characters). Required textbook needs to be purchased from American Zhiying Language Institute ($50). No previous knowledge of Chinese language is necessary. Limit 12.
