Meditation is a great stabilizer. By revealing the value of the "present moment," meditation encourages our innate direction toward growth, health and wholeness. Stress reduction is a valuable fruit of meditation. This 5 week course includes meditation on the breath, sitting and walking meditation, mantra meditation ( focusing on a word or phrase), and awareness practices. These practices are thousands of years old. The students will discover how to apply meditation to their relationships and life situations. There are no prerequisites. This course is a great introduction for beginners as well as a support for the seasoned meditator. Students are encouraged to wear comfortable, warm clothing and bring a cushion, mat ( or blanket) for sitting on the floor. A folded blanket is a great cushion for meditation. If necessary, you may meditate lying down. Deb is a certified yoga and meditation instructor, as well as a certified retreat guide and licensed Asian bodywork therapist. She began teaching in 1975.
