Oil Painting
Ernest Stonebraker
Oil Painting has been a popular and relaxing hobby for people from Winston Churchill to Tony Bennett and millions more. This course is for people who want to try oil painting for the first time, as well as for those who simply enjoy oil painting in a light-hearted, supportive atmosphere with other amateur artists. First timers will begin with exercises in brush handling and color mixing, then move on to painting a still life. A list of materials will be distributed at the first class, or by email if you register early. Tools and materials for oil painting cost between $150 and $200. Caution: Oil painting requires the use of solvents (odorless mineral spirits). More experienced students may work at their own pace from still life setups or from photographs, with the instructor being available to answer questions and help solve problems. Ernest (Ernie) Stonebraker has been painting for over 20 years, has had work accepted into numerous juried shows, and paints in his studio in ARTspace, Maynard. Minimum age 16.
