BASIC OIL PAINTING (Ages 16+) #OIL

Have you always wanted to try oil painting, but didn't know where to begin? This structured course is for those with no previous oil painting experience, but who want to explore the beauty of this classic medium. The objective of this course is not to make completed oil paintings in class, but rather to equip the student with techniques and basic understanding which he/she can apply to independent work in subsequent painting classes. Painting exercises will utilize simple still life setups to emphasize the importance of value, color mixing, and brush handling. A list of materials will be distributed at the first class or by email if you register early. Tools and materials for oil painting cost between $150 and $200. Returning students should bring their supplies and a few small still life objects. CAUTION: Oil painting requires the use of solvents (odorless mineral spirtits). NO CLASS MAY 19th. Ernest (Ernie) Stonebraker began painting more than 20 years ago, has had work accepted into numerous juried shows, and paints in his studio in ARTspace, Maynard. Limit 12.
