NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL RAIN GARDENS FIELD TRIP #RAINGF
Dori SmithThis field trip is a unique opportunity to view several types of rain gardens in one neighborhood. You will learn firsthand how to capture water from your roof and direct it into lush, beautiful gardens that attract birds and butterflies. These natural-looking gardens save water and help recharge our aquifers. They are easy care, and can often solve problems such as erosion, icy walkways, or wet basements. You will learn about rain-barrel setup, soil and grade preparation, and native plants perfect for rain gardens. You will see how to create a small pond as part of a rain garden. Gardeners of all skill levels and ages are welcome. Come prepared to ask questions and contribute your own suggestions. For advance reading, go to www.raingardens.org. This seminar is a follow up to the classroom lecture, "Naturally Beautiful Rain Gardens." The seminar is helpful but not a pre-requisite for the field trip. The location and directions will be made available to you when you sign up. Dori Smith, M.Ed., is an earth-friendly landscape designer, writer, photographer, and educator from Acton, MA.
